Hope everyone is having a great new year thus far!!!! This blog post is dedicated to african prints and stripes. I'm so excited to show you guys two looks I have been dying to try! Before that, I would love to share a little story with you.
One of my fashion fears was wearing a full print, and or striped outfit. I would see celebrities wearing head to toe print, and I would simply fall in love. For example, an african print suit is something I always wanted to try, I just loved the whole look and sophistication that came with it, with the blazer. (Yes my love for blazers is ridiculously insane :) ) However, I always put this ridiculous idea in my mind that I would look "wider" wearing an outfit that just had too much print and or stripes. Crazy as it sounds, I would give myself my own fashion rules to live by, restricting me from trying out things that would ultimately make an outfit look great!
Fear is a big obstacle when it comes to finding your style, and I say this countless of times. Our fear of the opinions from others can stop us from doing so much, even looking good!!! Sadly, this fear can lead to other aspects of life, which hinders us from growth entirely. My new year resolution, which I believe I will achieve, is to not allow fear to stop me from my creativity. People will always have something to say, that is a fact that may never change, however, when it comes to my style that's different. It's my style, my creativity, it is me. I end this post with a quote by Bettie Page, an American Pinup model, "I never kept up with the fashion trends. I believed in wearing what I thought looked good on me".
With this being said, I finally tried out the ankara (african print) suit, and I loved it! I loved it so much that I paired the blazer with a striped midi skirt from Rebdolls.
The ankara suit was custom made, however you can purchase the skirt from rebdolls. Their sizes go from 0-28!!!!
Thank you for stopping by!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
